CROSSING SPACE WITH EXPRESSION AND COLOUR
It is January 1999 and I am currently working on a series of pictures devoid of human forms. No drawing; nothing to remind of either male or female figures. All seems to be separated from my earlier work, my earlier creative periods.

And yet all of my work reflects my way of feeling, of expressing myself: mirror images of my inner self. My paintings and drawings are idea and expression combined and executed in form, defining the artist.

Only colours and concept, light and realism, and invisible but nevertheless existent motifs let the beholder experience things, experience freedom and expression.

I do not negate my earlier work, not in the slightest. At this moment in time I simply choose to express myself in a particular way. I am playing with colour and space and I think that these pictures are both to a certain degree expressionistic and abstract. Art has always been about content and context, and equally about the freedom of the beholder.
I will always be a figurative expressionist, choosing painting and drawing styles which please me.

I have always believed art communicates ideas through pictures. It is fundamentally important to me to interpret and not merely copy reality. What I paint, I paint with passion, illusion and love.
In a picture everything comes together: love, pain, human forms, and most importantly the feelings of the artist. Light is all important, I dislike confusion and instead prefer colour, space and concept led by creative ideas. These pictures reflect just that. I will neither abandon my earlier work nor will I stop here. Because to me art is life and my life is art: light, colour – crossing space.
